Making It Happen Accounting and Information Technology, Assistance and Support Import Plus Upgrade
Brief description:
You just download the latest version of ImportPlus and do an install of the same type as you already have over what is already there. You may also need to install the 32bit SDO for Sage50, you will be prompted if you do. Detailed description:
It is not necessary to uninstall ImportPlus.
As of Version 24.1 third party activation is no longer needed by Sage
Call Sage and ask for a "Third Party Serial Number & Activation Key" for the new version of Sage 50 (you probably already have these for the earlier version but each Sage 50 version requires different ones).
Once you have them you can either wait till ImportPlus asks for them, or within Sage 50 you can use Tools => Activation => Enable 3rd Party Integration.
You can use ImportPlus Driver to do update, in the Tools group run "Update Tools" and then run the "Update ImportPlus". (this is not available in very old versions) For earlier versions or if auto update fails visit: http://www.skyewright.co.uk/downloads/win32/ to download the installer manually
Use the downloaded file to update your ImportPlus installation. No need to uninstall, just install "over" what you already have.
In the top right corner of ImportPlus Driver it says if the installation is server or workstation along with what version you have, (this feature is not present on very old versions).
If ImportPlus is stand alone, do a "Full Install" (the default choice).
If ImportPlus is in a server & workstation arrangement, do either a "Server Install" or a Classic install on the server first. In a "Classic" install you will find a local folder in the Skyewright directory in a "Server" install you will not.
About the Classic Install: The main reason for using a classic install is when we have access to the fileshare but not the server. We can install as classic without needing server access. In this scenario, a workstation may be left running the classic install off the server (which is sub optimal) or a second installation as a workstation may have been done and it could be a workstation installation. When upgrading it does not matter which workstation you use to do the classic install unless one is running the classic install then it is the one you should do.
Once that is done, the workstation copies will update themselves from the server next time ImportPlus is run on the workstation. - (Note that you need administrative / elevated rights to install the upgrade at the workstation, if you need to, right click on import plus and choose "run as administrator" you only need to do this to install the update, once updated, everything will be as normal.)
- In some cases mapped drives are not available to the admin account and it may not upgrade, in this case run the installation package on the workstation and choose a workstation install.)
Notes:-
Existing custom configurations and command lines are unaffected and will continue to work as before.
If you're out of "update eligibility" then following the update you will need a fresh Skyewright licence within 14 days. Please use: ImportPlus Driver => Tools => Request Licence.
Access Rights: to install anything you will need admin permissions. If you do not have admin permissions you will not be able to install anything. If you have access to admin credentials then when you run the installer it will ask for the admin credentials. Note that if the admin user does not have the same drive mappings it will not be able to access the Skyewright folder. The way around this is to get an admin command line and remap the drive using "net use" command then run the installer.
Extra Help Whilst upgrading is something an end user can do, we acknowledge that some users may be wary and some may not know what the configuration is. If you need our help or want us to do it for you, please call.
