Sage 50 Report installation

So you have a report file and you need to put it in Sage so you can use it.

Good news: it is easy you just have to save, move or copy it to the right place and sage will find it.

The right place depends on which module the report is written for and how your sage is configured.

In this example the report is written for the Customer module but the method is the same for all modules.

First log in to Sage and open the module where the report belongs.

Go to the Reports for that module

Select the group on the left where you want to put your report EG "My {Module Name} reports".

Right click on an existing report and click on "show in explorer"

A new window will open and you should see you are in a folder with the same name as the group and the report you right clicked on should be highlighted.

Copy your report file to this location.

Note: If you are using the "data path" for reports then this report will be instantly available for all users on the network, however if you are not, then this process will need repeating for each user as the reports are stored locally not on the server with the data.

Note: If you go up one level in Explorer you will see the folder structure is the same as the groups.  You can create new groups by creating new folders and putting reports in them.

Warning: It is possible to use the same name as an existing report and overwrite it, this is something that the report designer will not let you do, with good reason.
The reason for this is that predefined sage reports get overwritten when you upgrade to new versions.  You can buck the system, but be prepared for your report to be overwritten if you do.  The "My {Module Name} reports" folder is the safe place to store your reports, Sage will never overwrite anything in this folder.
